Because it was here in Valdivia where the Compañía Nacional de Teléfonos (National Telephone Company) was established, which connected the people from southern Chile for the first time, only seventeen years after Graham Bell patented the telephone. Today, it remains as the oldest telecommunications company in continuous operation of our country; their collection of objects required an adequate space to be displayed, so quite naturally the Company decided to create this museum.

Because it’s the only museum devoted to telecommunications in Chile, and one of the few of its kind in LatinAmerica. It opened its doors on May 24th 2022, so that young-spirited people seeking knowledge, to discover and connect with a story, our territory, and with other people, have a place to enjoy in Valdivia.

A journey through the history of telecommunications, and an exhibit of the development of technologies that have made them possible until today. We can learn the story of Lüer house’s architectural restoration, watch temporary exhibits of a varied nature, and discover an assortment of gadgets that transport us a hundred years ago, even allowing us to experience those that are still functional!

Of course! We’ll be happy to provide all the information and assistance needed to plan your class visit, so you and the whole group have the best possible experience. The contents of the museum can complemment school subjects such as Sciences, Technology, History, Visual arts and Language. The audioguides also allow you to practice hearing skills in Spanish, English, Portuguese, German and Mapuzungún.

Yes, you will. The museum is fully accesible for wheelchair users and those with reduced mobility through ramps and elevators, and our staff is always ready to help you explore every detail of it.

We strongly believe you will. If you want, we can provide, at no cost for you, audioguides that describe the contents of our permanent and temporary exhibits. On top of that, our staff is always ready to help you with everything you might need. Furthermore, there are plenty of things you can touch and interact with.
